Luxury Self Catering Weekend Give-Away Competition worth €1175!
Competition Closed thanks to everyone!
UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who entered and for all the feedback. The competition is now closed and the winner will be contacted shortly.
Competition 2.0! In an attempt to create a simple and transparent competition we created a bit of a stir, we never meant this to contravene search engine guidelines or offend. Based on community feedback we are revising the competition. We have slightly altered the rules for entering. Original rules can be seen here.
We’re offering a luxury self catering weekend give-away at Glengarriff Lodge - a self catering destination with a conscience (it’s part of our conservation project).
What’s the deal? Well we need help to promote our site online so we are unashamedly looking for links to spread the word. Our site is a wordpress blog and we thought we’d try and engage the blogging community to help us…
Here’s how it works:
- You write a blog post which links to our homepage.
- In the same blog post you link to one friend who you think might be interested in the competition.
- You come back and post a comment on this blog post, letting us know where to find your entry.
- Competition closes on 11th March 2008.
- A minimum of 25 unique entries is required to hold the draw. If there are less than 25 entries on March 11th, the closing date will be extended.
- A draw will be held and the winner, picked at random from the entries, wins a weekend 11th April 2008 in Glengarriff Lodge - worth €1175!
- Our general Terms and Conditions apply, also there is no cash alternative, and the dates of the weekend are at the discretion of the owner.
In short, link to our homepage
tell one friend by linking to them in the same post
and you could win a luxury self catering weekend in this amazing location.
Use no-follow if you feel it’s appropriate - see Google Guidelines here.
Here’s sample code for the link just in case you need it:
<a href="http://www.glengarriff-lodge.com">
Glengarriff Lodge </a>
And here’s the no-follow version:
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.glengarriff-lodge.com">
Glengarriff Lodge </a>
Apart from the chance of winning this amazing prize, why should you link to Glengarriff Lodge?
The concept behind Glengariff Lodge was to create a luxury destination in Glengarriff with every modern convenice and comfort, which was also eco-friendly and sustainable, and as testified to by our rave reviews, Glengarriff Lodge is an incredible place to stay already, but we need your help to get the word out about Glengarriff Lodge so we can continue to build on the successes of our project to date. This luxury accommodation, in breathtaking surroundings, steeped in history shouldn’t be kept a secret - help us spread the word!
Glengarriff Lodge is a historic location, which was originally chosen as a retreat by the Earls of Bantry. In it’s hey day it hosted the society luminaries such as Thackeray & Wordsworth and we’ve been working on the house and grounds for several years now to restore it to it’s former glory. The house is on a 50 acre estate which is now a pet conservation project of mine. We are hoping that the luxury self catering business at the Lodge can help fund the creation of an ecologically sustainable business, which will include the conservation of the ancient oak woodlands.

[…] John Prendergast from Aonach just let me know about a competition a friend of his is running. It’s pretty damned impressive: Glengarriff Lodge near Bantry in West Cork is giving away a Luxury Self Catering weekend worth €1175 to one lucky blogger who mentions it! The location looks gorgeous and the Lodge is interesting because the aim was to be both luxurious and eco-friendly/sustainable. […]

[…] This is my entry into the competition to win a €1175 luxury self catering weekend. All I have to do is write this post, or be guilty of som plagerism( thanks Darran), mention Luxury Self Catering, link to their website and link to a friend who might be interested. Done, done and done! I was thinking their criteria for this comptition is quite strange and then as I was pasting in the links it hit me. This is brilliant marketing. This is Search Engine Optimization like none before. […]
