If you are looking for the ideal Easter get away break - Glengarriff Lodge has it all!

Self Catering Luxury

Don’t forget that Easter Week includes Paddy’s day this year - so you get an extra bonus!

This historic house is set on a beautiful woodland estate of ancient Irish Oak. The estate is a conservation project and the house which was originally built as a luxury showpiece for the Earl of Bantry, has now been renovated to provide a wonderful self catering experience. The Lodge is located on a man made island in the Glengarriff River, created by the Earl of Bantry to created a secret natural hideaway on his vast estates.

Recently refurbished to a luxury standard by the current owners, the Lodge has 4 bedrooms and can accommodate 8 adults with ease. There’s plenty of living space, with a large open plan kitchen / dining area, a separate sitting room with open fire and a spacious conservatory overlooking the river. The Lodge is a beautiful blend of luxurious comfort and the historic. Literary luminaries such as Wordsworth and Thackery were guests of the Earl.

Second to none

January 17th, 2008

We had a wonderful stay in the house and grounds which were second to none. We were very impressed with the quality of the finishes in the house and cannot speak highly enough of our stay.
Many thanks for your hospitality we wish you every success in your venture – you deserve it.

Summer Swimming

January 17th, 2008

We have had a wonderful week.
The weather has been superb. Days have been filled with visits to Garnish Island, The Bamboo Garden, Sheep’s Head Peninsula, Beara Peninsula and Dereen Gardens. The drive over the Healy Pass is spectacular. At the end of each day we returned to this lovely setting. The warmth and sunshine made paddling and swimming in the river particularly pleasurable. However the logs in the living room were also a reminder of how cosy it would be in the colder months of the year also.
A lovely property in an excellent location.

Garden Paradise

January 17th, 2008

What a wonderful place!
Must be one of the best residences in West Cork. I have no natural empathy for interior design/décor but even I can see the attention to detail. By contrast I am a fanatical gardener and it’s been an absolute pleasure to wander around the grounds. It’s a joy to me to see that you recovered so many unusual specimen trees and shrubs – presumably from a fairly overgrown state. I can see newer plantings of interesting varieties. Must look particularly great in April/ May and I’d love to come again then. Lastly adults and children alike have enjoyed swimming in the river!

Historic Delight

January 17th, 2008

Dear Alan
Our stay at your wonderful Glengarriff Lodge far exceeded our expectations.
Your fine restoration work of this historic building is stunning. The quality of all the fittings and furnishings were excellent and so well chosen. We only realised the historic significance of this house after visiting Bantry House. We have stayed all over the world and this was up there as one of the best. We hope to be able to return in the future.

Birthday Treat

January 17th, 2008

Dear Alan
How can we begin to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at Glengarriff Lodge.
A House full of Love and the most wonderful place to have spent my birthday. Only people who really care about people could have created such a wonderful place. The time we spent here will stay in our hearts for ever – looking forward to staying again next summer. A big thank you for looking after us.
Our very best regards,
Keith, Donna, Ben and Isabella
